Sotai
Sotai(ho) is a Japanese form of movement therapy, invented by Keizo Hashimoto, a Japanese Medical Doctor (1897 – 1993). He developed a model of treatment, based on restoring natural body alignment through working with the breath while moving toward comfort rather than adjusting toward pain.
Sotai is an integrated system of special corrective movements and manipulations of the body which improves posture and balances the nervous and muscular systems. It aims towards the direct harmonization of the flow of energy and the relief of pain and other health problems.
A series of mild or more dynamic techniques are applied, combining isotonic and isometric muscle contractions, stretches and specific point pressures.
Sotai can be practiced either with a therapist, in which case it is called Sotaiho, or within a group as Self Sotai.
